Staff
Little Doves Staff is committed to creating safe and fun childcare for your children. Little Doves is Washington State Licensed and staffed by experienced teachers who participate in research-based professional development through the Department of Early Learning STARS program. We are proud to be an Early Achievers Level 3+ Facility.
Curriculum
The philosophy behind our curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn't always just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world we live in. In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking). In using real objects, such as blocks, children learn about sizes, shapes, and colors, and they notice relationships between things.

The most important goal of our early childhood program is to help children become enthusiastic learners. This means encouraging children to become active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We are teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but all through their lives. We are allowing them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. We are giving them good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves, which will make a difference throughout their lives.

Our curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development:

Social: To help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are a part of the group.
Emotional: To help children experience pride and self-confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life.
Cognitive: To help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.
Physical: To help children increase their large and small muscle skills and to feel confident about what their own bodies can do.
Programs
We offer options of both part-time and full-time childcare.

Toddler Program:
We encourage hands-on exploration and social interaction in a safe, engaging surrounding to help your child learn about his or her expanding world. Through the guidance of our early childhood development professionals, toddlers enjoy learning experiences that promote the development of independence and social skills. We offer opportunities that help toddlers build the confidence needed to prepare for the preschool years. We partner with families to support their child's potty-training success.

Preschool Program: Teachers in the preschool classrooms promote emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development in a fun, engaging environment by presenting age-appropriate learning opportunities to encourage individual skills and independent choices. Nurturing each individual child to build upon his/her strengths and encouraging exploration of their world using art, sensory, literacy, and more. Creating learning centers that include language and readying construction, math, fine motor, art, dramatic play, science and sensory exploration, and outdoor learning. Providing activities to develop motor skills such as climbing and throwing. Establishing a relaxed environment to accommodate the unique disposition of the age group while fostering self-confidence and self-help skills.

School Age Program: Not currently offered.
