What a wonderful and meaningful service with our friends from Elim Lutheran, First Lutheran and St. Bede's Episcopal for Thanksgiving Eve. A huge thanks to Pastor Chris Nolte and Elim Lutheran for hosting. Food was also gathered during the service and was given to LifeCare Food Bank. Additionally, the offering of $520 will be split between LifeCare Food Bank and SK Helpline.

You are invited to help pack Thanksgiving Baskets that will help 30 local families celebrate the holiday. We will meet at church on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 9 a.m. to pack the baskets. We'll have snacks for our volunteers too! This year we have a list of 30 families provided by these schools:

Olalla Elementary
Mullenix Ridge
Burley Glenwood
Hidden Creek
Sidney Glen

Your generosity enables the schools to assist needy families. Out of the 30 there are 11 families larger than 6 persons! Often these families are composed of multiple generations or single parents sharing space with another family. Spirit of Life/ LifeCare Community Foodbank is so fortune year after year we have helped these schools and children.

These quilts will be given to Lutheran World Relief for distribution throughout the world. LWR distributed its first quilts in 1945 to families in war-torn Europe following the Second World War. Within a decade, the ministry was reaching around the globe to villages far removed from the world’s attention. Today, an average of 300,000 quilts - including those from Spirit of Life - are lovingly given worldwide each year. Thanks to our quilters for all their hard work.]]><![CDATA[Special Donation for Lifecare]]>Thu, 14 Oct 2021 07:00:00 GMThttps://www.spiritoflifelutheran.org/service-old/special-donation-for-lifecareAnd speaking of LifeCare, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, the food bank received a GRREEEAATTT donation. A neighbor of Spirit of Life Lutheran Church brought in 144 full-size boxes of Frosted Flakes. The neighbor stated that he and his family had been helped in the past by places like LifeCare and he wanted to help others. We are so grateful for the generous people in our community.
